Tina Parham-Araujo, Ed.M. LCSW, Youth and Family Therapist

Tina was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana and graduated from North Central High School in 1972.  Tina graduated from the first Dental Assistant Class at the Indiana School of Dentistry in 1973 and worked for a local dentist in Indianapolis for 5 years before returning to college. Tina enrolled at Tennessee State University and received an Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene in 1980 and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology in 1983.  Tina went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Consulting and Counseling Psychology at the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 1984. 
Tina worked for the Department of Social Services Child Protection Division in Boston Massachusetts from 1984-1986.  She returned to Indianapolis in 1988 and began to work as a psychiatric social worker for a local community mental health center.  During her ten years there, Tina worked in a variety of capacities which included a therapist for a school based day treatment program, working with children in a group home, completing parenting assessments and eventually becoming team leader for the school based program. Afterwards, Tina became an independent contractor providing individual, family and crisis counseling to at risk families before joining Connections.   On a personal note, Tina is the proud mother of two wonderful daughters.  One is a senior journalism major at Ball State University, and the other is a junior sociology major at IUPUI.
