Amy Kirkland, MSW, LCSW, Youth and Family Therapist
Amy Kirkland is employed at Connections Inc. as a Youth and Family Therapist. Amy received a bachelor’s degree from IU South Bend in 1977. She completed her MSW at IUPUI in 2005 and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Indiana. Amy also has certification from the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) as a Certified Advanced Child, Youth, Family Social Worker (C-ACYFSW). Amy has thirty years of experience in working with individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness. She has also worked extensively with abused and neglected children and their families. Amy has worked as a direct care provider, program director, therapist, behavior consultant, hospital discharge planner, advocate, licensed therapeutic foster parent, court appointed guardian and volunteer for persons with developmental disabilities. Overall, her employment and volunteer experiences have been geared towards assisting vulnerable individuals to overcome obstacles that stand in their way of enjoying all of the benefits of society. Amy is able to effectively utilize crisis intervention skills in situations requiring de-escalations and timely redirection of consumers experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges. As an advocate Ms. Kirkland is not afraid to take on tough issues and she stands committed to standing up for what she believes and making the world a better place for future generations.
